Two Stars. As described straight forward and complex, Straight forward and complex is the best way to describe it, very pure flavor with wonderful room note and aroma. this red with some age should be top tier. This batch is new from 2018 crop . I do recommend letting the tobacco dry out a little bit before lighting up because there was a little bit of moisture build up. A monochrome, non eventful, easy burning, dry smoke followed. I was ve ry happy I did I was able to get the grassy, earthy, sweet flavor much better though I still yet to taste much citrusy notes as I move through the tin this gets better and better. You will not be disappointed if you are able to get some. Include "small batch" in the title. One for now and one to save until C&D makes up another batch. The tobacco leaves have an interesting texture and seem to be a little bit thicker than other Virginia varietals I have tried. It has a very, very nice aftertaste exhale. Its not too complicated due to it being a straight Virginia, but it has a lot of depth of flavor. The first thing that hits you as you light up is the tangy sweetness, wood and earth, which are the main features of the flavors. There was a previous review featuring another C&D Small Batch offering, "The Beast," that I really enjoyed. But there's also a bready, doughy, character behind; like a fruit bun! Into the cellar you go mr. 2020. It does have some of the cranberry with sourdough bread , spice and vinegar . That means that every tin available is out there in the wild for your hunting pleasure. Heres to C&D, and Jeremy, you are the man! I wasn't too impressed with this blend, what can I say? Very disappointed. I wish I could enjoy it, but it's going to be gifted for sure. It comes across in the nose, a bready, earthy, simple dried plant essence, but instead of dominating the tobacco, it's a top note to a composed, gentle, and fresh red Virginia. Strangely, but wonderfully, it's a "fill it and forget it" type of blend from a maintenence perspective which is rare for a straight Virginia blend.
